The decision was made on July 23 during the plenary session. It comes six years after its rejection by the administrative tribunal for non-compliance with the “NOTRe” law.
Following the security issues highlighted by the various terrorist episodes that have occurred in recent years, the president of the PACA Region, Renaud Muselier, adopted the Safe Region project in February 2021, this time in compliance with the NOTRe law, aiming to release more resources to secure the region.
During the plenary session, Renaud Muselier brought back to the agenda the adoption of an annual budget for security throughout the region, allowing it to benefit from a sum of 10 million euros per year. This amount will be used to equip the city with sophisticated security equipment, strengthen the military forces, or implement initiatives to enhance the protection of residents.
