The 14th Lusophone Cinema Week will continue this year its exploration of the cultural wealth of Lusophony.
On one hand, with Brazilian films that offer an intimate—if not light—view of this country, but still engage with today’s social issues.
On the other hand, with two Portuguese films that cast a look at history. The first evokes the figure of Aristides de Sousa Mendes, Portuguese Consul in Bordeaux during the Second World War, who saved thousands of persecuted people, mostly Jews, from deportation.
The second deals with the Carnation Revolution and will be an opportunity, forty years later, to discuss the current situation in Portugal.
Africa will also make its presence felt with a Luso-Mozambican film that will allow for the discovery of this great Southern African country, seeking reconstruction after many years of dramatic conflict. This African dimension will also be present in other events planned, as outlined in the program below, including concerts and partnerships with Casa di Cabo-Verde in Nice and Cesária Evora in Cannes.
A program designed to open spaces for discovery and exchange around Lusophony.
