The Italian delegation of the Garibaldi Association consists of about twenty people and will be led by Mrs. Anita Garibaldi, President of the “Giuseppe Garibaldi” Foundation, President of the “Giuseppe Garibaldi” Association, and President of the “Le Mille Donne per l’Italia” Association. She will be accompanied by her son Mr. and Mrs. Francesco Hibbert Garibaldi and their son.
So there will be three generations of the Garibaldi family, the Italian branch, to celebrate in Nice the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, whose Generalissimo was one of the key figures and heroes, and certainly many other Italian residents in Nice or in the Alpes-Maritimes will join the various celebrations and festivities.
This will also be an opportunity for the City of Nice to host the Fanfare of the City of Bergamo, dubbed “La città dei Mille” because it was from this city that the largest contingent of volunteers, the future “red shirts,” originated.
This Sunday, the Holy Mass will be symbolically celebrated at the Church of Saint-Augustin, the same place where Giuseppe Garibaldi was baptized and where the official certificate of this Sacrament is still located.

Among the delegates, Bruno Simeone, Vice-President of the “Giuseppe Garibaldi” Association, and Generals Guido Martinelli, Domencio De Simone, and Ettore Torre.
Accompanying the delegation will be the Italian Consul General Mr. Luciano Barillaro, member of the General Council of Italians Abroad (France) Bruno Capaldi, and the President of the Comites (Committee of Italians Abroad) in Nice Enrico Musella, as well as the Presidents of the Italian associations of the consular district of Nice (departments 04-05-06).
