np_italie-8.jpg Songs have always accompanied our lives. They are made of words and music but are also a cultural phenomenon, a means of communication, and if an actor sings these songs, they can also become theater.

The Compagnia del Ciglio, formed by a singer and two instrumentalists, revisits a century of songs by singer-songwriters from different eras and origins through original arrangements for voice, piano, and percussion, which wink at chamber music, jazz, and the sounds of 20th-century music. The use of props, lights, and movements also recreates the cabaret atmosphere, while the alternation of reflective and playful, comedic moments brings to mind the glorious era of Saturday night television shows.
The recitals of the Compagnia aim to “tell stories” through the greatest songs of all times to smile, reflect, or simply be moved.

The Compagnia del Ciglio was born in 2006 on the occasion of the theatrical performance “Sul ciglio di un applauso,” staged in Turin and Rivoli.
The three members reunited in 2009 for the show “900.com” at the Teatro Espace in Turin. On that occasion, the desire to create a stable formation arose, focusing on reviving a glorious and almost forgotten way of doing theater: the musical cabaret.
Winking at Giorgio Gaber’s teatrocanzone, Gabriella Ferri’s cabaret, and chamber music, the Compagnia finds its strength in the singer-songwriter tradition.
