“Over the years, the Beaulieu-sur-Mer tournament has established itself as a key date in the IFT circuit (International Federation of Tennis), and it is with satisfaction and pride that I have witnessed the evolution of this high-level competition. I hope that this major event will be a springboard for these young players in their future careers.”
These words from Mayor Roger Roux have accompanied the 96 young players from the beginning of the competition as they compete for the final victory at the 15th International Open Tennis tournament, organized by the local Tennis Club’s management team (led by its director Christophe Ribero) with the known expertise despite numerous challenges and a limited budget (100,000 euros).
Who will succeed among the boys to the ‘prodigy’ Gianni Mina, last year’s winner and also at the Orange Bowl in Miami, then finalist at Roland Garros, to whom experts unanimously predict a great future?
And among the girls, who will be the champion succeeding the talented Belgian Arthur De Greef? We will have to wait until Sunday afternoon, the day of the two finals, for which an enthusiastic, attentive, and large audience is expected.
Naturally, the organizers look to the sky, hoping for the clemency of Jupiter Pluvius to not repeat the experience of the last edition, which ended under the covered courts of the Monte-Carlo Country Club.
But the setting of TC Beaulieu is so charming with the sea just a stone’s throw away that… We all willingly cross our fingers!
We conclude with the words of the President of the French Tennis Federation, Jean Gachassin, who wanted to thank: “…the efforts of all those who dedicate themselves to bringing to life on our soil events of the magnitude of this 15th International Open of Beaulieu-sur-Mer.”
