Who will succeed Caroline Garcia, the winner of the 2013 edition?


open_gdf_suez.jpg Saturday marked the beginning of the 17th edition of the Open GDF SUEZ in Cagnes-sur-Mer Alpes-Maritimes at Pierre Sauvaigo Sports Park, with the first round of qualifiers.

Out of 16 matches of the day, 12 French players were competing. Three French players were present this Sunday after the first round of qualifiers. Ramialison is the only French survivor.

The main draw has been drawn and it will be very competitive, especially in the lower half where our French players Pauline Parmentier, Alizรฉ Lim, and Mathilde Johansson are located. Ten players are ranked in the top 100 in the world. Claire Feuerstein and Mathilde Johansson will face seeded players.

French players Claire Feuerstein and Mathilde Johansson will notably have a tough challenge against Nadiya Kichenok (UKR), the number 8 seed, and Romina Oprandi (SUI), the number 2 seed and semi-finalist of the previous edition.

The young hopeful Fiona Ferro will face the Dutch Kiki Bertens while Myrtille Georges will compete against the British Johanna Konta. At the bottom of the draw, Pauline Parmentier will have to overcome the Swedish Sofia Arvidsson and Alizรฉ Lim will battle against the Croatian Mirjana Lucic-Baroni.

Tuesday, May 6: from 10 AM: 1st round of singles and doubles

Wednesday, May 7: from 11 AM: 2nd round of singles and 1st round of doubles, 9/10-year-old tournament

Thursday, May 8: from 11 AM: 2nd round of singles and doubles

Friday, May 9: from 11 AM: singles quarter-finals and doubles semi-finals

Saturday, May 10: from 1 PM: singles semi-finals and finals of the 9/10-year-old tournament

Sunday, May 11: from 12 PM: finals of singles and doubles; wheelchair tennis exhibition matches
