Latest News

On Thursday, May 23, 2024, the final of the departmental eloquence competition “180 seconds to convince” for Maralpin students took place.

This Thursday featured an eloquence competition intended for the middle schools of the Alpes-Maritimes. This year, 15 schools participated in the departmental eloquence contest. The aim of this competition is to present a speech to a jury in 180 seconds.

For the students participating in the competition, the exercise promotes oral expression and the art of public speaking. Each student chooses a topic of their choice to present before a jury and must deliver a performance lasting a maximum of 3 minutes.

All participants had the opportunity to practice public speaking on stage. Guided by their teachers, they were also assisted by actors and coaches specialized in eloquence and oratory arts. Among them was Michel Saint Dragon, a French poet who hosted the entire evening. Each week, for 6 hours, the candidates worked with professionals to refine their texts and public speaking skills.

During the evening, we listened to speeches on several engaged current topics such as: abortion, violence against animals, hunting, disability, xenophobia. There were also lighter subjects like silence, truth, and football. We discovered a wide range of topics that provoked reflection. The evening concluded with a concert by students from the Nice Regional Conservatory.
