As the bill for the simplification of regional transport fares is being debated at the National Assembly, Renaud MUSELIER, president of the regional council of PACA, wants to impose a 20% increase on a ticket purchased inside the bus.
€2.50 is the amount that will be required inside the transport compared to €2.10 outside.
A divisive choice
Jean-Pierre SERRUS, LREM Mayor of La-Roque-d’Antheron, argues that it is necessary to “avoid the handling of money by drivers and the disruption of local services”. To achieve this, “a surcharge of €0.40 should be applied in case of on-board sales”. Other elected officials strongly oppose this decision. According to them, “to encourage people to take public transport, incentive measures are needed, not punitive ones. Direct purchasing and the connection with the driver or the conductor should be pleasant, not punitive, if we are seeking quality of service”. The final decision will be known in the coming days.
