I was born in 1985… A fine year… In the heart of an extraordinary period… The 1980s (the Age of Enlightenment but not on every floor): 1984 the death of little Gregory, 1986 Chernobyl, 1985 Laurent Fabius became Prime Minister… With all that, you can see why I just had to have a sense of humor.
While most teenagers of my generation were numbing their minds in front of the television, I was eagerly opening the doors to theaters, flourishing on stage under the warmth of the spotlights… With the secret desire to make people laugh, never talking about it but always thinking about it! Testing all forms of humor: repetition, situation, wordplay, and the backside humor which is genuinely effective laughter, the kind that relaxes, feels good, and truly vents. Moreover, when someone is sad we say, “Poor thing, he has no luck.”
But it was only after watching Mr. Guy Bedos’s show that I found my path and realized that self-deprecation and cynicism were the forms of humor closest to my personality, my sensibilities. The goal of making the audience laugh uproariously is the aim of this new show. This impression and desire were confirmed to me after meeting the author and humorist Chraz, who asked me, “Do you want to be a comic or a humorist? A dictionary can help you answer that.” Perhaps I am naive to believe in the artist’s power and duty to inform and question. For me, laughter allows this, in a roundabout, indirect, and ironic way… Handling sensitive, difficult subjects has always attracted me, even if it must be done lightly and never at the expense of laughter… Thus, I will be a Humorist, like those are Jamel, Gad Elmaleh, Allévêque, Guillon… The new generation of humorists who will stay much longer as references for (like me) many budding comedians.
To summarize, I would say that I am a child of television drawn to the stage and spotlights…
