After the National Defense and Citizenship Day, a new stage awaits the 2,000 young men and women from Nice who have just come of age, at the citizenship ceremony which aims to emphasize the importance of the fundamental principles of republican life and its political system.
Gathered at the Opera House, they were given their voter registration card along with a citizenship booklet, which presents the main rights and duties of citizens.
“Citizenship is first and foremost a spirit. A consciousness of the necessary commitment to serving others. A call to rise above one’s own condition, opinions, and prejudices. Citizenship is also a practice. And the right to vote is its most eminent symbol,” declared Christian Estrosi as he addressed them.
The next presidential and legislative elections will be an opportunity to express it!
