2 minutes, 8 seconds and 95 hundredths (2โ8โโ95)! Camille Muffat set the clock racing during these French short course championships in Nรฎmes. She shattered the 400m individual medley record, leaving Parisian Sophie de Ronchi and Lyon’s Cylia Vabre far behind her.
In an interview with Lโรquipe, she stated, “I know what I can do compared to last year. I know I can get on the podium, that’s for sure, and I also know I can win. We saw this morning that thereโs a lot of competition; itโs going to be tight. For the heats, I managed to swim quite fast without getting too tired.”
The Nice native claimed this new record, which previously belonged to the podium queen, Laure Manaudou. The latter did not shine so much for her results but rather for her budding romance with Mulhouse swimmer Benjamin Stasiulis.
A Great Track Record
7 medals for Olympique Natation Nice! Swimmers Camille Muffat and Clรฉment Lefert delivered excellent performances between them. With 2 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals, the duo confirms their talent. Clรฉment Lefert finished 2nd in the 100 and 200m butterfly. He ended up 2nd in the 50m butterfly behind Parisian Antoine Galavtine, who holds a new French record (23โ43โโ). The young swimmers Elsa Trujillo and Yannick Agniel, both of whom chose sprinting disciplines, left empty-handed but full of hope for the future.
A great track record that once again proves that ONN is indeed one of the most successful and promising swimming clubs in the country.
