2010 Edition: Les Enfoirés have their “nervous breakdown” in Nice

Latest News

For the first time in 21 years, Les Enfoirés will sing in the Azurean capital*. More than 20% of the funds raised during the shows will be donated to the Restos du Cœur, founded by Coluche 25 years earlier. The troupe is unique in that it performs only on certain dates, once a year, in a single French city.

After “Les Enfoirés font leur cinéma” in the 2009 edition, the troupe has their “nervous breakdown” in 2010. Coluche, who also founded Les Enfoirés in 1986, would find many reasons today to “have” a nervous breakdown. During the 25th campaign of the Restos du Cœur in 2009, the demand for food was on the rise: one hundred million meals were distributed. We are far from the 8.5 million meals served in 1985. According to the Observatory of Inequalities, poverty in France is changing face. Young people, some of the most precarious workers, and especially poorly compensated unemployed people are affected today.

To ensure that the needy receive “just food and drink, a little bread and warmth,” several singers will take the stage at the Palais Nikaïa. Among them: Jean-Jacques Goldman, Liane Foly, and Michaël Jones. This year, a newcomer joins the troupe: Grégoire. So come in large numbers to attend the shows, because “today, we no longer have the right to be hungry or cold.”

*Note: “Azurean capital” likely refers to Nice, located on the French Riviera (Côte d’Azur).
