“Noël Albin, the outgoing general councilor, is elected in the first round, and Jacques Victor leads in the 3rd district of Nice, where he will face the National Front in the second round. The Left Front will also be present in the second round in the Puget-Théniers district with Nathalie Grilli.
– The scores achieved by the National Front, which are up compared to the 2004 local elections, confirm the danger of a rise in the far right. They are the direct consequence of part of the right’s attempt to normalize the ideas of the National Front.
– The Communist Party reaffirms its determination to defeat the far right and, with it, the racist and xenophobic ideas it promotes.
– In all the districts of the department where a National Front candidate is present in the second round, we invite, in the name of republican values, voters to block these candidates.”
