It is on May 3, the day after the televised debate between the two rounds, that François Bayrou might give a voting indication to his voters. Before making his decision, the president of the MoDem, who gathered 9.13% of the votes on April 22, wishes to hear the final “live” exchanges between François Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy. But not only that: He also sent them a letter to ensure their commitments.
The presidential candidates have responded to François Bayrou’s letter:
– François Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy have both replied to the letter sent to them by the president of the MoDem.
– To try to capture a large share of the 9.13% of votes obtained by the centrist, the two rivals are highlighting their commitments to public finance management.
This nourishes François Bayrou’s reflection, who, moreover, emphasized the importance of the candidates’ “personal attitude” and values, just as decisive in his eyes as their program.
The centrist has distanced himself somewhat from Nicolas Sarkozy, whom he accused of “validating the National Front’s discourse,” specifying: “The political current I lead has always been defined by values that are primarily humanistic.”
