On Thursday, January 5th at 7:30 PM, the group ZINGARIA takes us into the Gypsy universe at the Théâtre de Grasse.

Lick, a songwriter and performer, belongs to the Piedmontese Sinti community based in the Alpes Maritimes. He created the “Nuits Tziganes” in the 1980s, which experienced real triumph on the Côte d’Azur and particularly in Grasse. In 1990, Lick formed the group Zingaria, along with his son Yogan. The latter, a superb violinist, is the worthy heir of the authentic Gypsy musical culture. At 18, invited to Rajasthan to share his heritage, he was already enchanting his audience. Similarly, during an audition, he impressed Yehudi Menuhin, who invited him to study violin in London.

Accompanied by four other musicians, Zingaria invites the public on an intoxicating journey through the eastern plains of Russia, Bohemia, Romania, and Hungary, while also giving a nod to Manouche jazz. With them, it’s the whole soul of a people expressing and conveying its joys and sorrows.
