Socialists and green ecologists hand in hand to attack the Nice citadel in the upcoming Nice municipal elections. The alliance, or better yet its confirmation since the two parties were already allied during the outgoing mandate, has been sealed and it will also apply to the main cities of the department. While everything is defined and clear for Nice, some situations still need to be clarified in other cases.
The Greens will have four candidates positioned among the top 20 on the list, which will be headed by Patrick Allemand.
Fabrice Decoupigny, a professor at the University of Nice, will complete the trio ticket with the socialist leader and Mrs. Boy-Mottard, while Juliette Chesnel will be number 6 on the list (an eligible position in any case).
The left aims to be united and ready for the electoral battle that promises to be tough against the outgoing mayor and his war machine, as well as the other lists of a hydrocephalic right-wing (Arnautu, Peyrat/Icart, Bettati?, Estrosi).
Although the probable “departure” of Marc Concas has been digested without any apparent constraint and logged as “individual drifts,” Patrick Allemand (for the occasion assisted by Christine Dorejo and Paul Cuturello) expressed a strong regret for the distancing of the Front de la Gauche, which will have a candidate in its own name (at least) for the first round of the municipal elections: “Yes, because one should not confuse national politics with local politics. Unfortunately, the communists wanted to replicate their opposition here in Nice. They might not have understood that the person to beat is Christian Estrosi and not me. As our agreement with the ecologists shows, it is not necessary to agree on everything to forge an electoral alliance, the essential is to be complementary and share common values.”
Finally, Fabrice Decoupigny stated: “The Greens have chosen this alliance with pragmatism. We are a left-wing party and our place is in the left-wing union. And alliances are made to win.”
Will this duo be able to shake up the local political landscape well-entrenched to the right?
