The Olympic and Paralympic Week (OPW) is a week organized each year with the aim of promoting sports practice among young people, by engaging the educational community around the civic and sports values found in Olympism and Paralympism.
For its 4th edition, from February 3 to 8, the OPW has a special flavor: 2020 is an Olympic and Paralympic year!
In echo of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the Lausanne Youth Olympic Games that took place in January, the OPW emphasizes the interculturality embodied by these grand celebrations where nations converge.
Each edition of the Games is a celebration where athletes and supporters from around the world exchange, with mutual respect and openness.
The Rector of the Academy, Richard Laganier, is kicking off the Olympic and Paralympic Week this morning at the Collège des Bréguières in Cagnes-sur-Mer.
Collège des Bréguières in Cagnes-sur-Mer has committed to the “Generation 2024” labeling and has aimed to introduce students to sports disciplines featured during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Thus, 12 activities will be offered throughout the day (blind football, Basketball, Basketball, Table Tennis, Table Tennis wheelchair, Fencing, Wheelchair Fencing, Wheelchair Tennis, Climbing, Blind Climbing, Field Hockey, Boxing).
The establishment will also be honored by the presence of the Cannet Hornets wheelchair basketball team (multiple French champions and engaged in the European Cup) as well as Mohamed Radai Rakyb, a boxer with the French national team.
