“2020, what future for the BTP06?”

Latest News

Laure Carladous, president of FBTP 06, surrounded by Pierre Mario, vice president, and Lionel Dolciani, secretary of the federation, presented the prospects for 2020.

In a troubled context (strikes and Yellow Vests), economic development is complicated.

One of the main issues in the construction sector remains the pricing level, which is too low. Since prices do not evolve at the same pace as costs, the sector is weakened by minimal margins. 2020 will mark the adjustment of prices (and thus an increase) for a fairer compensation.

Unfair competition is also a problem. Whether companies are French or foreign, some offer costs that are too low. As a result, quality, standards, or even salaries are not respected.

Artificial intelligence, home automation, digital models, and collaborative platforms represent the future that the construction industry wants to pursue. The ecological transition is also part of the projects.

However, the lack of facilities for waste complicates the work. A draft law “Fighting waste and circular economy” provides for the free collection of building waste starting in 2022.

New housing is expected to experience a slowdown, as is non-residential construction. On the other hand, the maintenance and renovation sector should remain stable. Public works usually do not benefit during electoral periods, but the weather has provided more work.

Activity is expected to slow down, but this will allow companies to develop with a focus on the future.
