After a reshuffle of its schedule, the 5th edition of the Downhill MTB Challenge 06 opens in Valberg this Sunday, June 20th.
Four stages, each more technical and spectacular than the last, will make up this 2021 edition. The first, contested on the Loรฏc Bruni track in Valberg, will serve as a dress rehearsal before the French Championships in the discipline, which will be held on the same course from July 15th to 17th.
Next will come the “Ding Dingue Down” in Blausasc on July 31st and August 1st, the Isola 2000 descent on August 14th and 15th, and the Mouliรจre descent on September 4th and 5th.
With this Downhill MTB Challenge, the Department continues its objectives of promoting cycling in all its forms and introducing this discipline to a broad audience to encourage the emergence of new champions.
This discipline is strongly represented in the Alpes-Maritimes, a department that offers the most suitable terrains in the French territory. It has also brought to the forefront many champions at the highest level, including Nicolas Vouilloz (10-time world champion), Fabien Barel (3-time world champion), and more recently Loรฏc Bruni, four-time world champion.
