Cultural figures from the Provence-Alpes-Cรดte dโAzur region, where the far-right candidate Marine Le Pen came out ahead in the first round of the presidential election, called on Wednesday in Nice to vote for Emmanuel Macron in the second round.
Gathered at the initiative of the mayor (former LR) of Nice, Christian Estrosi, who has pledged support to the outgoing president, figures from the cultural world took the stage one by one at the LโArtistique theater, including Charles Berling, director of the Thรฉรขtre Libertรฉ in Toulon, Muriel Mayette-Holz, director of the National Theater of Nice (TNN), and Michel Boujenah, artistic director of the Ramatuelle festival (Alpes-Maritimes).
All of these personalities are calling to “vote against the far-right and choose Emmanuel Macron (โฆ) because culture unites when so many other subjects divide.”
The president of the region, Renaud Muselier, who had defeated the far-right in the last regional elections, also relayed this call via video conference from Marseille, as did pianist Nicolas Bringuier and Daniel Benoin, director of the Anthรฉa theater in Antibes.
