2022 Presidential Election: Not yet an official candidate, Macron surpasses the 500 sponsorships mark.

Latest News

Although he has not yet officially announced his candidacy, the outgoing president has already gathered 529 endorsements from elected officials, making him the first to exceed the 500-signature threshold.

This Thursday, the Constitutional Council updated the list of endorsements for the candidates running in the 2022 presidential election, and it was revealed that Emmanuel Macron is now officially eligible.

Behind him, LR candidate Valรฉrie Pรฉcresse has garnered 324 endorsements, and PS candidate Anne Hidalgo has collected 266. Jean-Luc Mรฉlenchon, Eric Zemmour, and Marine Le Pen are trailing with 100, 58, and 35 signatures, respectively.

Last Tuesday, the Constitutional Council released the first list of endorsements, and Emmanuel Macron was already leading with 105 signatures. Christian Estrosi had also announced that he was endorsing him.

In the Alpes-Maritimes, however, it is Valรฉrie Pรฉcresse who is collecting the most endorsements from elected officials, ahead of Emmanuel Macron.

The only question remaining is when the outgoing president will officially announce his candidacy. In an interview with La Voix du Nord, he stated this week that he is โ€œfirst and foremost obsessed with the acute phase of the epidemic and the peak of the current geopolitical crisis being behind usโ€.
