The year 2023 has been generally positive for the women from Nice. The club continues to develop among the elite of French women’s handball.
We last left OGC Nice Handball on November 25th. In this last championship match of the year 2023, the Aiglonnes were defeated on Chambray’s field (27-25). The team of Clément Alcacer ended the year with a loss. However, this did not overshadow a promising year for the women from Nice.
Sporting Continuity
Before that, the club had finished the 2022/2023 season in a respectable 8th place, at the heart of the Ligue Butargaz Énergie standings, the highest level of French women’s handball. The club aimed to continue progressing, as Clément Alcacer reminded us before the start of the season, on our site.
After the last six months of the year, OGC Nice Handball is currently ranked in 9th place. The women from Nice have a record of three wins, one draw, and seven losses after 11 rounds of the 2023/2024 championship. The captain of the Aiglonnes, Ehsan Abdelmalek, is the team’s top scorer this season.
The Club Continues Its Development
2024 will be an opportunity to continue growing and performing to aim even higher. The end of the 2023/2024 season will already mark a new cycle for the women from Nice. The departure of coach Clément Alcacer to Dijon is already official. However, his replacement is already known, it is Sébastien Mizoule. The coach has been leading the Besançon team for five seasons. A new chapter in the Nice project will undoubtedly be achieved.
The Aiglonnes will return on January 10th for the 12th round of the championship. The women from Nice will face Toulon in a southern derby at the Halle des Sports Charles Ehrmann. Kick-off is at 8:30 p.m.
