Last weekend, the 21st edition of the Mediterranean & Arab Countries Purebred Arabian Horse Championship was held at the Rondelli Stadium in Menton. This event brings together the most prestigious horses that come from all corners of the world each year to participate in this show and attempt to win the much-coveted titles of Champions of the Mediterranean and Arab Countries!
Argentina, Brazil, USA, Australia, Gulf countries, United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt, Northern Europe, Southern Europe, and not forgetting France… Many nations were represented at the Rondelli Stadium in Menton by the world’s 130 most beautiful equine specimens, all dreaming of claiming the famous titles of Champions of the Mediterranean and Arab Countries.
The horses were judged by an international panel of judges—6 judges in total, from Belgium, Germany, Egypt, Italy, Russia, and Poland—as well as a disciplinary committee—composed of three French members, one Tunisian member, and one Spanish member—based on very specific criteria: type, conformation, carriage, and gaits.
The two days of exhibitions included Junior and Senior female qualifying classes on Saturday, June 23, Junior and Senior male qualifying classes on Sunday, June 24, as well as the Championships and special trophies for the Senior male class.
For each of the Championships, as in all sports, 3 medals were awarded by the Jury: Gold Medal, Silver Medal, and Bronze Medal, and all winners received numerous trophies. The top five horses, as well as the Yearling (foals), Juniors, and Seniors winners of this year’s six championships, were each rewarded by a different sponsor who generously endowed each class. The “Top five” of the Yearling Championships received prize money. In addition, a breeding of “Marwan Al Shaqab” (a purebred Arabian stallion) was offered to the winner of the “Best In Show Female”.
This equestrian weekend delighted all horse lovers and attracted a crowd of enthusiasts to the City of Lemons!
