The suspense did not create a big surprise because it was not actually one. Rudy Salles chose his faithful right-hand man Lauriano Azinheirinha as his substitute for the legislative elections.
With this nomination, he continues his path: municipal councilor in 2008 (and deputy for education and youth), general councilor in 2009 (delegate for disability), deputy in 2012, and after…? In short, Lauriano is one of the rising stars of the Nice political world!
It is evident that the local political leader, a veteran of campaigns having been elected since 1988, is preparing his succession. The end of the accumulation of mandates promised by François Hollande could turn this expectation into probability!
It was with fervor that Rudy Salles wanted to present his choice to the activists and supporters, justifying it with the quality and loyalty of his main collaborator. “We will be a victorious tandem!” said the outgoing deputy, who did not wish to comment on potential opponents.
As for the lucky “chosen one,” in a modest tone, Lauriano Azinheirinha wanted to thank Rudy Salles for this trust: “We have been working together for 11 years, a collaboration facilitated by our friendship” – he commented.
He then explained his commitment: “Three reasons led me to respond favorably to Rudy Salles’ invitation. The first is that I am concerned for France; and in this case, I have chosen to act for a better future for our country. Then, since I am from Nice, I have learned to love the neighborhoods of this city and the people who live there. I love visiting the restaurants and I love the always high-quality Niçois cuisine. And finally, the third is personal: I could never have said no to Rudy.”
And with these fine words and the accompanying good sentiments, everyone agreed to meet for the victory celebration on the evening of June 17th. And if this victory is not that of the Republican right in the legislative elections, it will probably be that of Rudy Salles and Lauriano Azinheirinha in the 3rd constituency of Nice.
