4th Choreographic Creation Days: Italy from Tradition to Creation

Latest News

With the support of Palm Beach, the 4th edition of this event, which has become an unmissable meeting for the world of dance from Frรฉjus to Menton, is turning towards our Italian neighbors. The goal: to discover and share the wealth of the classical repertoire and the contemporary universe of Italian dance.

While the Ecole Supรฉrieure de Danse de Cannes is primarily a place of training, it also positions itself as an active participant in choreographic development, a generator of ideas, a provider of information, and a developer of talents.

The dynamism of the school is no longer to be proven, as shown by its privileged position within the cultural network of the region.
With the collaboration of Palm Beach, which fosters the external activity and internal vitality of the school, the 4th JCC is undoubtedly an essential dance event in the Alpes-Maritimes.

Italy in the spotlight

An Italian national artistic and pedagogical director, trained at La Scala in Milan; a high percentage (25%) of students enrolled at the ESDC also being of Italian nationality, ongoing partnerships with cross-border schools and companies: it is only natural that Italy has taken center stage at these choreographic days!

The transalpine program includes: meetings with dance personalities, master classes, workshops aimed at young audiences, performances of repertoire pieces, creations by young choreographers, and the premiere of a national exhibition.
Opportunities to share a great tradition of folk dance and ballet, the exciting creation of the young generation, and to meet talented artists from this country.

PROGRAM

Workshops for Young Audiences from April 10 to 20

In schools and at Palm Beach in the Admiralty Salon Developed since the first edition of the JCC with the partnership of the City of Cannes, these conference workshops are a great success both among teachers who appreciate the educational content and children who love these artistic encounters.

ESDC contributors will run workshops in 12 classes in the Cannes basin, from school to high school.

And classes will be relocated to Palm Beach for a half-day dedicated to dance and its Italian currents with a guided tour: the decrypted exhibition “Each Dance Has Its Stories”, meetings with dancers from the Cannes Youth Ballet, and a 45-minute dance session. The Palm Beach salon transforms into a dance and creation studio!

A first: the national exhibition “Each Dance Has Its Stories”

From April 11 to 13, Palm Beach at the Admiralty Salon Presented for the first time during the 4th Choreographic Creation Days, this exhibition was designed and co-produced by the National Dance Center and the Federation of Living Arts and Departments.

“Each Dance Has Its Stories”, is more than a traditional exhibition. This tool offers a set of materials (panels, booklet containing additional documentaries and action paths, videos) enabling dynamic work with students within the framework of various disciplines (French, visual arts, history, physical education, music, mathematics, physics, technology, languages, etc.). It deals with content often ignored by students, which โ€” through the specific detour of dance โ€” questions concepts identified in school programs as structuring for the history of arts.
