From August 8 to 12, 2012, dancers and orchestras will gather to offer exclusive performances at the 4th International “Côte d’Azur Tango” Festival organized by the Very Nice Tango association. A unique event in distinctive locations, characteristic of the Côte d’Azur. Let’s recall that the association is behind these “wild” tango meetups in the city of Nice, on the promenade, Garibaldi square…
Each day, the festival offers one or more occasions to dance! The opening night will take place at Danalys in Nice on Wednesday, August 8. The night of the 9th will feature the Milonga Evening (a dance event where people dance tango) with the Cachivache quartet at the Hippodrome of Cagnes-sur-Mer, followed on August 10 by an outdoor Tango night and the “Night After Party” event at Danalys. The grand evening of the festival will be held on Saturday, August 11 at the Terrazur Casino in Cagnes-sur-Mer with a ball accompanied by the Tango Spleen Orchestra. The festival will close with a “Despedida Auberge Espagnole” evening at Danalys.
Alongside the festival, amateurs of all levels will have a range of workshops and seminars available: DJ workshops on August 8, women’s technique workshops on August 9, seminars exclusively taught by Pablo Veron for advanced/masters on August 10, 11, and 12.
“Côte d’Azur Tango” is an opportunity to discover a range of professional artists such as the highly renowned Pablo Veron, an emblem of the history of Argentine tango. He is the main character in “The Tango Lesson,” the famous film by Sally Potter. Tango enthusiasts can also appreciate the talent of the elegant Sigrid Van Tilbeurgh, a teacher specializing in women’s technique workshops. The Argentine couple, Jose Manrique and Natalia Pombo, will accompany the voluptuous and sensual music of the Tango Spleen Orchestra. This orchestra, a revelation at the National Tango Festival of La Falda, pays tribute to Astor Piazzolla for the 20th anniversary of his passing.
