500 doses of monkeypox vaccines available in Nice

Latest News

The Monkeypox epidemic is progressing; while there are about fifteen cases in the Alpes-Maritimes, the mayor of Nice announced that 500 doses of vaccines are finally available in Nice:

“Thanks to the coordinated work with the Nice University Hospital, the City of Nice, and health centers, I inform you that we have obtained 500 doses of the monkeypox vaccine to ensure accessibility.”

On the recommendation of the High Authority for Health, the Nice University Hospital is thus opening vaccination slots from July 18. However, it is very difficult to get an appointment on Doctolib, as the slots are quickly booked and the doses are limited. For this reason, the mayor has requested additional doses: “I have asked François Braun, Minister of Solidarity and Health, to provide the City of Nice with additional doses to widen the categories of people eligible for vaccination against this epidemic.”

Indeed, for now, vaccination is only reserved for priority individuals, who are notably:

  • Contact cases
  • Men having sex with men, reporting multiple partners, and trans people reporting multiple sexual partners
  • People in prostitution situations
  • Professionals of sexual consumption venues, regardless of the status of these places

A second dose is generally necessary for adults under 45 years old. During the first vaccination, the doctor will indicate whether a second injection is necessary.

Testing:

Additionally, the Alpes-Maritimes Department is opening today, Tuesday, July 19, a testing (and vaccination) center within the CeGIDD in Nice.

The center is open:

  • Monday: from 9 AM to 5 PM
  • Tuesday: from 10 AM to 12 PM and from 2 PM to 5 PM
  • Wednesday: from 9 AM to 5 PM
  • Thursday: from 9 AM to 12 PM and from 1 PM to 7 PM
  • Friday: from 9 AM to 9 PM
