A unique platform for the meeting of the general public and science professionals from all horizons.
Four conferences and a round table to provide reflections on the forest from the perspective of research, culture, education, and industry on the theme: “The Forest: Future and Fate” (as part of the International Year of Forests).
Is the Mediterranean forest really threatened?
“The study of the Mediterranean forest, marked by the impact of humans, has long been neglected. Yet it holds unique environments and rich biodiversity deserving of preservation (WWF).” It is essential to identify and limit the drivers of deforestation (International Conference in Paris, March 2010). This Forest Research Festival is dedicated to the forests of France and the world.
Recherche et Avenir thus gives the floor to four actors from the scientific world and invites the public to meet them to discover their experiences and share their commitments.
Through testimonies about the Forest, through an analysis of its management on an international scale, the definition of a long-term action plan, and a reflection on paper usage, our four speakers will discuss their work for Research, Culture, Education, and Industry.

Stรฉphanie Godier, Chief Executive Officer of REA: “Recherche et Avenir enters its sixth year of operation, and its team is pleased to present the fifth edition of its Research Festival, within the framework of the 2011 International Year of Forests.
Drawing on its commitments in astrophysical-chemical research, the interaction between different scientific fields of Research, Industry, Education, and Culture to promote Research, and its personalized support for science graduates, REA illustrates its missions through the four conferences and a round table it offers at this Festival. The will and motivation of the speakers, as well as the association’s active participants, reflect its actions in favor of Research, its actors, and the public.
As President, I warmly congratulate the REA team and am delighted to welcome to this Research Festival our speakers and the audience from all walks of life, who enjoy communicating about science and everything related to it. A commitment and participation in reflection on our role as world citizens.”
