5th INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP (PPP) MEETINGS: the Award for the Nice Stadium

Christian Estrosi, Deputy, Mayor of Nice, President of Nice Cรดte d’Azur, received today the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Award during the inaugural conference of the 5th International PPP Meetings currently being held at the Palais des Congrรจs in Paris.

The 5th edition of this major annual event dedicated to PPPs brings together all public and private stakeholders involved in implementing partnership contracts, with the support of the PPP Support Mission of the Ministry of Economy (MAPPP) and the Institute of Delegated Management (IGD).

The PPP Award honors the strength of a conviction, that of the value of partnerships between the public and private sectors, and the ability to transform this conviction into some of the most significant achievements in France. The City of Nice is thus recognized for its partnership contract with the group led by VINCI Concessions for the design, construction, maintenance, upkeep, and operation of the future Nice Stadium, designated, among other things, to host the Euro 2016 matches. This partnership contract ensures better project control by the City, compared to a concession.

Indeed, this choice will allow the City to ensure the best possible management of this sports facility to promote international influence and economic balance, with advantageous conditions of public fund usage and a comprehensive approach to cost. Thanks to this partnership, the City of Nice will recover a facility in perfect operational condition at the end of the 27 years of operation.

Christian Estrosi is delighted with this Award, which rewards the City of Nice’s choice of this management method, allowing the principle of economy of means to be respected by using only what is necessary to benefit from the best possible product.
