International Environmental Label for Ecological Tourist Accommodations
Recently, the jury responsible for awarding the “Green Key” eco-label convened in Paris. On this occasion, six establishments from Alpes-Maritimes were granted this distinction.
The awardees are:
– Camping à la Ferme Saint-Joseph in Saint-Martin-Vésubie
– Camping du Pont de la Mariée in Guillaume
– Camping le Prieuré in Saint-Martin-d’Entraunes
– Hôtel du Grand Capelet in La Gordolasque
– Hôtel Les Chamois in Turini
– Relais Impérial in Saint-Vallier de Thiez
To date, in Alpes-Maritimes, only the Club Méditerranée in Opio and the Radisson Hotel in Nice had received this label.
Let us recall that to qualify for this label, establishments must meet a number of environmentally friendly criteria, particularly in terms of environmental education, waste management, water, and energy. In 2010, 501 campsites, hotels, lodgings, and eco-friendly bed and breakfasts were awarded the label in France.
Created in 1994 in Denmark, the Green Key label (known as La Clef Verte in France) is the oldest existing “eco-label” in Europe. Managed by the Foundation for Environmental Education in Europe, it is exclusively for tourist accommodations.
Note that participation in this labeling process is part of the PIT Tourval project (Integrated Transboundary Plan), led by the General Council within its departmental tourism development and planning scheme.
The PIT Café aims to support tourism professionals in qualifying for various existing national labels: “Tourism Quality,” “Tourism and Handicap,” “Country Bistros,” and eco-labels like the “Green Key.”
