The Department has long demonstrated its proactive approach to the safety of schools and students by deploying additional resources, both material (video surveillance systems) and human (presence of school mediators since 2012) within and around the facilities.
The attack on July 14, 2016, in Nice strongly reaffirmed the need for security, particularly regarding the protection and prevention directed towards young people.
To address the legitimate concerns of students’ parents and teachers, the Department, as the leader of child protection, launched its “School Safety Plan,” proposing new measures for the 2016-2017 school year.
This plan, structured around two main pillars, includes strengthening the protection of schools and a human dimension with the mobilization of additional security and mediation resources around schools, which will cover 60 schools in the department.
4,900 students are affected in the Alpes-Maritimes.
