On the occasion of the 70th anniversary, the exhibition “Jazzin’ Nice, 70 Years of Jazz Love” will highlight the strong connection between Nice and jazz, which led American musicians to integrate, through their music, into the cultural life of Nice in various palaces, cabarets, and emerging clubs, starting in 1917.
Over time, the greatest names in jazz have graced the stages of the city while in 1976, the jazz class of the Conservatory unified and formed the famous nursery of Nice jazz, and the “Jazz of the Three Seasons” settled at the Grappelli Hall in 1982.
Thus, great international jazzmen such as Miles Davis, Lionel Hampton, Dizzy Gillespie regularly returned to Nice, while a generation of Nice jazzmen such as Barney Wilen and André Ceccarelli, exported themselves worldwide.
This story will be told through iconographic documents (posters, photographs…), videos (concert excerpts, interviews…), instruments, graphic works, programs, and booklets.
