Chess, the famous game in which two opponents maneuver on a board with 64 squares, two sets of 16 pieces of various values aiming for the decisive move “Checkmate” that puts the king in check and ensures the win of the game!
The amateur and/or novice public is expected in large numbers at the 8th edition of the International Chess Open, which will take place from October 25 to November 1 at the Palais de l’Europe.
The event organizers, members of “L’Echiquier Mentonnais,” are betting this year on a hundred participants coming from all over the world: French, Germans, Spaniards, Luxembourgers, and inevitably the nations of Eastern Europe.
The French grandmasters Mazรฉ and Libiszewski are the top contenders to succeed the Croatian Sulava, the previous winner.
The opening ceremony will take place on Sunday, October 25 at 3:45 PM, and the start of the first round is scheduled for 4 PM, making a total of 9 rounds spread over 8 days.
The sum of โฌ7000 will be shared among the winners, with โฌ1000 awarded for the 1st Prize in the general ranking.
