This Sunday, December 4th at 2 PM at the Palais de l’Europe, the 7th Meetings for Peace will be held. The topic discussed will be of pressing current interest as it will involve reflecting on the future and the consequences of the “Arab Spring”.
A symposium that will bring together eminent specialists including André Azoulay, Alexandre Adler, Leïla Babes, Ghaleb Bencheikh, Jean Daniel, Leïla ShaHid, Daniel Shek, Faouzi Skali, and Serge Telle.
These figures will debate the theme: “Promise and Challenges of the Arab Renaissance: a New Appointment for Peace?”, emphasizing the perspectives opened up by recent events.
Moreover, on Saturday, December 3rd, during a gala evening, the 4th Golden Olive of Pax Medicalis will be awarded to André Azoulay, advisor to His Majesty the King of Morocco, in recognition of his longstanding commitment to bringing people together and his relentless fight for Peace.
To the sound of Arab-Andalusian music, a gourmet dinner and a fashion show will enhance this evening, where many renowned guests will come to honor the recipient.
The Pax Medicalis association, apolitical and multiconfessional, brings together healthcare professionals motivated by the same ideal: to contribute to a Peace process between the inhabitants of the Middle East.
It organizes the “Meetings for Peace” annually, centered on the conflict in the Holy Land, initially with an essentially medical approach but gradually opened to various themes related to culture, philosophy, and literature, thus fostering citizen meetings between nationals of various Mediterranean countries.
For three years, it has been honoring contemporary figures who, through their actions, their lives, or their works, are artisans of Peace and deserve to receive a Golden Olive, symbolizing their commitment in this sense and thus recognized as worthy of belonging to the “Lights of our Time” alongside Sister Emmanuelle, Elie Wiesel, or Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish.
The President’s Word
The humanist and civilizational project carried by Pax Medicalis for several years now honors the “Brotherhood of the Awakened” that we are or must join without wasting a second.
The house has been burning for too long already, and the current reality, unfortunately, stubbornly brings us back constantly to a situation of disorder and hatred. We are convinced that the silence of the elites is an endorsement of these murderous identities.
Pax Medicalis aims to be an apolitical association! But really, dear friends, is there a nobler policy than recognizing all the region’s populations’ simple right to health, therefore to be, to exist, and to live in peace together for a better future?
How can one not be moved when awarding a Golden Olive to the “lights of our time,” to those individuals for whom suffering holds no more secrets? A wonderful act of faith and hope in humanity.
