The Armistice signed on November 11, 1918, marks the end of World War I (1914-1918), the victory of the Allies, and the capitulation of Germany. The ceasefire became effective at eleven o’clock, bringing nationwide bell ringings and bugle calls announcing the end of a war that claimed over 18 million lives and left millions disabled or mutilated.
