Peace is the key word, and the olive tree is the symbol that reminds us of it.

This day is meant to remember all those who gave their lives for France, whether in the defense of the Nation or during foreign operations in which our country participates.

All will also be associated with this solemn tribute from the Nation.

-Today, at the beginning of the 21st century, our troops are engaged in Africa, the Middle East, Afghanistan, and soldiers continue to fall under the French flag so that our flag never falls.

It is just and legitimate that these soldiers now join in commemoration with those who preceded them in sacrifice during the 20th century, in service of our destiny and values, so that the Republic may live, and that France may live.

This ceremony will also be joined by riders and mounts, soldiers dressed in horizon blue, who through their presence, will pay a strong tribute to the African fighters.
