The Steering Committee of the Francophonie Games will meet today in Nice, and a press conference to share the conclusions of the discussions will take place this Friday at the Villa Masséna. Christian Estrosi, President of the 2013 National Committee of the Francophonie Games, will welcome Valérie Fourneyron, Minister of Sports, to review the outcomes of this meeting.

On the agenda for this 9th meeting of the CIJF Steering Committee:

– The presentation of the preparations for the VII Francophonie Games France/Nice 2013, less than 7 months before the opening ceremony.
– The review of Chad and Côte d’Ivoire’s bids to host the VIII Francophonie Games in 2017.

16 member states and governments of the CIJF Steering Committee, CONFEJES, the CNJF, and representatives from the candidate countries as guests will take part in this meeting.

The 7th Francophonie Games will be held from September 6 to 15, 2013. As a major event for Francophone youth from five continents, these Games are a reflection of the solidarity and sharing practiced within the Francophone community.

Recognized internationally for the high level of their sports and cultural events, they also serve as a springboard to international fame for emerging talents.

The French State (Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Culture and Communication, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Ministry of National Education, Youth and Community Life), the City of Nice, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur Regional Council, the Alpes-Maritimes General Council, and the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) are joining efforts for the success of this major Francophonie sports and cultural event dedicated to its youth.
