Health professionals from the General Council’s Health Department and a dermatologist (partnering with the national association of dermatologists for this operation) will provide visitors with information on preventive measures against the risks associated with sun exposure and early detection of melanoma. A questionnaire will be distributed to facilitate the dissemination of information.
It is important to quickly detect any melanoma because it is the most serious and common skin cancer in adults – young people can also be affected. Melanomas are easily detectable and are usually found on exposed areas: face, neck, back of the hands.
Furthermore, as part of this day, dermatologists will offer free consultations at two medical centers of the General Council:
– Anonymous and Free Screening Center
Rue Edouard Berri โ 1st floor โ 06000 Nice
Consultations from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
– Medical Prevention Center
2067 Saint-Claude road โ Proxima Building B โ 06600 โ Antibes
Consultations from 10 AM to 12 PM and from 2 PM to 5 PM.
As part of its policy to fight cancer, in August 2005 the General Council implemented an information and prevention tool: the Cancer Information Bus. This bus travels the roads of the department throughout the year to raise public awareness about cancerous diseases in their various pathologies.
Through this initiative, the General Council wishes that all inhabitants, regardless of their place of residence and resources, have equal access to health information and prevention.
