The Andros Trophy was established in 1990 thanks to two passionate friends: Max Mamers and Frรฉdรฉric Gervoson.
In its 18 years of existence, the best specialists in the field have raced on the icy tracks of the Andros: Yvan MULLER, Marcel TARRES, Jacques LAFFITE, Ari VATANEN, Bernard DARNISH, Jean-Pierre BELTOISE, Jean-Louis SCHLESSER, Patrick TAMBAY, Philippe de KORSAK, Alain PROST, Olivier PANIS, Didier ANDRE, and others…
Besides professional drivers, amateur drivers take to the icy tracks of the Andros Trophy every year. Among them are guest stars: Caroline BARCLAY, Sophie DUEZ, Estelle HALLYDAY, Karine LIMA, Elodie GOSSUIN, Nathalie MARQUAY, Guy FORGET, Henri LECONTE, Amรฉlie MAURESMO, Christophe DECHAVANNE, Jean-Marie BIGARD, Alexandre DEBANNE, Alexandre DELPERIER, Don Alfonso dโORLEANS BOURBON, Vincent LAGAF’, Ferdinand de LESSEPS, Philippe NIKOLIC, David HALLYDAY, Gรฉrard HOLTZ, Philippe RISOLI, CAUET, Stรฉphane COLLARO, and this year, it’s journalist Jean-Pierre PERNAUT’s turn to venture for the second time into this Grand Prix where friendliness reigns.
After Val-Thorens, Andorra, and the Alpes d’Huez, itโs up to the circuits of Isola to challenge these participants from all walks of life who share the same passion: motor racing.
On January 12 and 13, the Isola resort will indeed host the Andros Trophy, and for the occasion, Nice-Premiรจre has become “the phone co-pilot” of Jean-Pierre Pernaut.
Attention! Fasten your seatbelts! It might get slippery!
Nice-Premiere: To “start”, Jean Pierre Pernaut, can you introduce us to the driver Jean Pierre Pernaut?
Jean-Pierre Pernaut: Driver Jean-Pierre Pernaut is a beginner on ice. He’s doing more circuits than usual. This is my second season in the Andros Trophy, as last year, I raced in Sprint Car to discover ice driving. These are little machines that have nothing to do with the car I have today. It’s my second season. I’ve been racing on circuits for 4 or 5 years, notably in a competition called Fun Cup.
N-P: What motivated the journalist to be at the starting line of the Andros Trophy?
J-P P.: My son who is 25 years old. He is a high-level mechanical engineer. Three years ago, he was selected among France’s best young drivers to do a single-seater racing season where I accompanied him on all the circuits to watch and assist him. He raced in GT, Fun Cup races with his dad and friends which take place on major circuits like Nogaro, Many court, Le Castelet… Last year, he participated in the Andros Trophy in sprint car and we both thought: why not try to do a season in a car in the Elite category. So we set up this project about six months ago and we looked for a team.
N-P: Is motor racing a family story for the Pernauts, isn’t it?
J-P P.: Yes, father and son. We wanted to share this passion. It’s nice. I’m 56, he’s 25. He’s a very good driver, I’m an eternal beginner but I love the atmosphere, the ambiance of motor racing and participating in competitions.
