January 31, Science and Citizens Bar
The local Cรดte d’Azur branch of the French Physics Society is organizing its fourth Science and Citizens Bar at the Bar des Oiseaux (5, rue Saint Vincent in Old Nice) from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, January 31. The theme is “World Visions: Artistic Rigor and Scientific Imagination”. Participants include: Philippe Gamba from l’Espace de l’Art Concret in Mouans-Sartoux, Jean-Marc Levy-Leblond, professor emeritus at the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis, physicist and philosopher, editor of the Alliage journal, and the visual artist Edmond Vernassa. Admission is free.
February 1, Garibaldi at the Port
On February 1, 2, and 3, the Culture and Leisure association of the port is hosting a book sale exhibition titled “Garibaldi and History” from 2 PM to 7 PM at their headquarters, 8 rue Franรงois Guisol in Nice. Notably, on February 1 at 4 PM, a conference with Louis Broch, president of the “Friends of Freedom” association will take place.
February 3, ATTAC assembly
To amend the statutes of the ATTAC association, an extraordinary general assembly is convened on February 3 at the MCE, 23 rue de la Libertรฉ in Mouans-Sartoux from 5 PM to 7 PM.
February 4, Banquet in Le Cannet
The traditional banquet of the communists from the Cannes basin will be held on Sunday, February 4 at Salle Bel Aube, rue des Michels (near the Post Office) in Le Cannet. Schedule: 12:00 PM: Aperitif; 12:30 PM: Meal (couscous, salad, cheese, pastry, coffee). Cost: 12 euros (wine not included), children (under 15 years) 6 euros. 3:00 PM: Grand Lotto. February 8, Fair Trade at “Thursdays”
As part of its monthly meetings, “Jeudis du Patriote”, your newspaper is organizing a conference-debate on the theme “From North-South Fair Trade to Fair Economy in France and Europe”. The event will take place on Thursday, February 8 at 8:00 PM at the Aquarium in Mouans-Sartoux. Participants include Sylvie Mayer, researcher, responsible for the Solidarity Economy/Fair Trade network at the French Communist Party (PCF), Andrรฉ Aschiรฉri, mayor of Mouans-Sartoux, and fair trade dissemination associations in the department.
February 9, “Let’s Talk About Reading!”
In connection with the liaison committee of educational movements and education (CLIMOPE 06), educational movements from Alpes-Maritimes (AFL, CEMEA, Scouts and Guides of France, ICEM Freinet pedagogy, OCCE) are organizing a conference debate “Let’s talk about reading!” with Jean Foucambert, researcher at the INRP from 1973 to 2002. The conference will be held on Friday, February 9, 2007, at 8:00 PM, in the MGEN amphitheater, Hotel Nikaรฏa, at 39 avenue Clรฉment Roassal in Nice. Admission is free.
