The Nice Première virtual polls

Latest News

For the past few weeks, Nice Première has been offering you the opportunity to vote in surveys concerning both local and national news.

The first four questions that were asked were:

1. Should a Mosque be built in Nice?
2. Which candidate would you choose in the next local elections?
3. Do you think foreigners living in France for 10 years should be given the right to vote in local elections?
4. What name would you choose for Nice’s future large stadium?

To date, nearly 18,000 responses have been given, and these surveys will continue to evolve online, fluctuating according to our readers’ votes.

The new survey we are launching today crosses local borders, focusing on the presidential elections for our virtual voting booth. Ségolène Royal, Nicolas Sarkozy, François Bayrou, Philippe de Villiers, Jean-Marie Le Pen… It’s up to you to choose with just a click! We would like to note that the choice of candidates was based on current popularity polls.

Let’s try to dissect yesterday’s results, which will differ from today’s and from tomorrow’s… a perpetual survey of sorts.

Should a Mosque be built in Nice?

Undoubtedly, this is the flagship survey of Nice Première with more than 10,650 votes. Today’s result shows a massive “Yes” (65%) to the establishment of a mosque in Nice.

The location remains to be decided… some see it in the Plaine du Var area, others in the city center, few (34%) cannot envision it, and common sense would want a decision to be made in consultation with all local Muslim associations to provide a place of prayer for a religion that is very present on the Côte d’Azur.

We invite you to express your views on this topic, which, after having stirred up some conversation a few months ago, ultimately fizzled out among the sounds of welding from Nissart’s future tramway.

Which candidate would you choose for the next local elections?

This famous survey made headlines upon its release and continues to be a topic of conversation.

Certainly, some clever individuals found a way to vote multiple times, causing some candidates to soar in the polls, but after a few weeks, the balance of voters seems to have stabilized.

The top five today, with 2,231 votes expressed, consists of Patrick Mottard, Jérôme Rivière, Patrick Allemand, Jacques Peyrat, and… “Others.”

Familiar faces and local officials (Dominique Strauss-Kahn is not yet in this survey), and a surprise guest in the form of “Others”. This option was preferred by 11% of our readers, rather than one of the officials in our survey. A few names that were mentioned in our columns include Alain Roullier, Franck de Vita, or even Garibaldo from Nissa 2008.

What about you, who are you thinking of?

Do you think it’s necessary to grant voting rights in municipal elections to foreigners residing in France for 10 years?

A survey related to the municipal one, which has gathered over 3,000 votes, shows a close race between ‘Yes’, leading slightly, and ‘No’.

This debate finds its place in our society, which is evolving. A municipal election asks the residents of the municipality to choose the man or woman who will lead their city hall. Wouldn’t it be normal for a “foreigner” living in a French city for 10 years to have a say in this electoral issue?

What are your feelings on this matter, and do you think this right to vote is necessary?

What name would you choose for Nice’s future large stadium?

Finally, with more than 2,000 voters, the survey proposing a name for the future large stadium in Nice.

Undoubtedly, from the first day, the name Giuseppe Garibaldi has been largely in the lead with 33% of the votes cast. 15% of the voters opted for Riviera Stadium, while Stade de Nice, Stade du Ray, Catherine Ségurane, and Jean-Pierre Adams vary between 7 and 8%. Louis Nucéra finishes last with 4% but will be first on the list when the city of Nice builds… its velodrome.

Other names were also proposed, such as Stade des Aiglons, Nissa Stadium, Stade de la Plaine, or the classic Stade de Nice.

Have you thought of any other possible names?
