What if another candidate with a different list…: We thought the cast for the next Marie Academy was definitively closed, but whispers yesterday and even more so today suggest that another party might declare candidacy at the upcoming municipal election. Gilbert Stellardo would lead this project which would be a real surprise and a new factor in a highly lively Nice municipality. Would the entourage of the shareholder of OGC Nice and former Deputy Mayor under Jacques Peyrat want to mark a difference between the outgoing mayor and the UMP candidate backed by Paris? The next few hours will tell us more about the real intentions of this announced list, which brings joy to some and misery to others. Guess who the happy and unhappy are!
Jean-Marie Tarragoni in the municipal game: The former Director of the Standard, who has recently made a brief reappearance in the Nice media landscape and online, could well return to the forefront of the municipal scene, having previously been involved in municipal politics as one of Jacques Peyrat’s cabinet directors. He will be on a list in the upcoming election. Not with Patrick Allemand, Patrick Mottard, or Hervรฉ Caรซl, who have already announced him, not with his sworn enemy Jacques Peyrat… so only two possibilities remain!
Candidates wanting to settle scores: This municipal race is indeed run at a high pace, and each is preparing their missiles based on other’s news. The anecdote, according to some media, of Christian Estrosi renting a private plane has obviously fueled discussions and prompted counterattacks to this ministerial slip-up. Thus, some candidates are even considering charging the cost of the Falcon jet to the campaign accounts of candidate Estrosi. The reason: A person from the General Council was on board the expensive aircraft and therefore, according to other competitors, this should be included in the expenses incurred by the municipal campaign of the President of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes.
Patrick Mottard enacts his cantonal revolution: “The territorialization initiated by the current municipality is a failure. Beyond a clientelist mode of appointing councilors and a total lack of material and financial means, it is primarily the division of the territories that is at fault.” Patrick Mottard and Nice Autrement propose territorializing the city of Nice based on cantons better known to the people of Nice than the current territories. Five proposals were launched, such as: the number of 13 cantons, election of councilors with public advice from the General Councilor, a participatory budget allocated to the canton, cleaning services at the cantonal level, and a local police force per canton. For this, Nice Autrement has chosen to run in all the renewable Nice cantons with: Cรฉline Lacroix (1st canton), Antonin Colombo (2nd), Joรซl Simon (4th), Pierre Laigle (6th), Anik Le Liboux (9th), and Salah Belati (13th).
Jacques Peyrat also moving forward for the cantonals: The outgoing Mayor also revealed his candidates for the next Nice cantonal election. These will be Alain Roullier (1st), Brigitte Ferrari (2nd), Brigite Cohen Tanauji Dahan (4th), Hรฉlรจne Salicetti (9th), and Alexandre Roy (13th), representing the Entente Rรฉpublicaine in the Nice cantons. Only the sixth Nice canton will not have a candidate, as Jacques Peyrat does not wish to cross swords with Jean-Pierre Mangiapan, whom he does not consider “a declared enemy.”
The press talks about what it knows!: Recently, we received some emails asking why we spoke less about certain candidates, whether for the municipals or cantonals, and likewise some messages posted in response to our articles posed the same question. We wanted to respond to this by indicating that we try to publish the largest part of information communicated to us, maintaining total impartiality and respecting everyone’s given place. But, where it’s impossible none is required, and we cannot relate a fact that has not been communicated to us and even less attend a press conference to which we were not invited. Those concerned will certainly recognize themselves, and we prove that we are not as sectarian as them at Nice Premium by not revealing their identity! And yes, sometimes the devil is elsewhere…
