Priscilla Commer, a 22-year-old secretary from Nice working at the General Council, managed to come out on top after three fashion shows and a general question, snagging a victory at the last minute. Twelve young, non-professional models were competing for a title that was more than just honorary. The winner will represent the city at the Nice Carnival as well as at events abroad. The 2006 winner traveled to Brazil and Canada to symbolize the aesthetic capital of the Azure Coast.
In an exceptional turn of events at this election, there were not one, but two winners. Tied at the conclusion of the jury’s deliberations, led by Monique Peyrat, Priscilla’s crowning was decided by a draw. Luck was not on the side of the unfortunate Katja Marjaana Saari, 24-year-old Finnish hostess living on the French Riviera for five years. Jessica Dallongeville-Laroche, a 20-year-old beautician, won the title of second runner-up.
With the tiara firmly set on her brunette hair, the young secretary can let her brightest smile burst free. She will remember Thursday, February 8, 2007, as the evening she stepped into the spotlight. All that’s left is to see her in action on February 16, the first day of the Nice Carnival, which will conclude on March 4.
