The people of Moulin cut off from Sospel are protesting!

Latest News

The residents of Moulinet demonstrated in front of the Administrative Center to protest the delay in the roadworks of RD 2566. The Deputy and President of the General Council of Alpes Maritimes, Eric Ciotti, defended himself in a statement. According to him, in consultation with the general councilor of the canton, Jean-Mario Lorenzi, he ensured that โ€œimmediate significant works, essential for the security of this axis, were initiated. At the same time, all measures were taken to ensure the viability of the detour via the Turini Pass and to help the working population of Moulinet cope with this exceptional event.โ€ This statement will certainly not be enough for the people of Moulinet.

However, since January 22, the departmental assembly has adopted the establishment of an exceptional compensation mechanism for the damage suffered by the traders and workers of Moulinet. The General Council mobilized 15 workers and committed more than 2 million euros. But the challenges remain significant: the 350-meter-high cliff overlooking RD 2566 is unfortunately too fractured, according to the General Council, for simple clearings to suffice. Anchoring and installation of mesh nets are necessary to address the lower parts. Originally scheduled between February and March, the partial reopening of RD 2566 is now pushed to early May.
