The City of Nice is organizing the first VICTOIRES DU SPORT event, on Thursday, February 19, 2009, at 7:00 PM at the Palais Acropolis, Apollon room. This ceremony aims to honor Nice’s athletes and to support the city’s bid for the 2018 Olympics.
This evening will be hosted by Patrick MONTEL (France 2) and Nicolas ABED (NRJ Nice). The entertainment will be provided by the hip-hop dancers from the group “Kamikaze Flex,” SEAN, the 2008 world champion of street-style football, and the cheerleaders from Top Dance school.
Christian Estrosi, Deputy Mayor of Nice, will award, in the presence of Didier Deschamps, Stéphane Diagana, Alain Bernard, Daniel Issautier, Christel Pascal, Nicolas Charbonnier, Yohann Grégoire, Christophe Pinna, and Nathalie Leroy, Sonia Fiuza, Valérie Nicolas, Philippe Riboud, Jean-Noël Ferrari, Jeff Tordo, Christophe Moni, Guillaume Néry, Laurent Tillie… all Nice athletes who have won a title or podium at the national or international level or achieved a significant performance in 2008.
The ceremony will also introduce a young Frenchman, Séan, who for the first time was crowned World Champion of Free-Style Football in Sao Paolo, Brazil, in 2008. He will perform demonstrations to introduce his sport to a broader audience.
1000 invitations valid for two people are available to the citizens of Nice starting February 9. They can be collected at the town halls. Please bring an ID. A maximum of 2 invitations can be collected by the same person.
During the evening, the names of the 3 winners of the competition will be announced for the election of the best athlete of the year 2008 by the citizens of Nice.
