The European Investment Bank finances the Nice tramway

Latest News

Mr. Philippe de Fontaine Vive Curtaz, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank and Mr. Jacques Peyrat, Senator-Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Urban Community, will officially sign the financing agreement on Friday, March 2 at 11:30 AM.

This network will enhance the appeal of public transportation in the Nice area, encourage “soft” modes of transportation (pedestrians and cyclists), and improve the quality of life in urban environments. This project is part of European policies, and it is in this capacity that it interests the European Investment Bank.

Marked by modernity, the Nice Cรดte d’Azur tramway is much more than just a means of transport: it is a unique opportunity to rethink the city. With redesigned urban spaces, the planting of new tree species, and suitable public lighting, the tramway creates a dynamic for enhancing the value of the heritage. The city is transforming, it beautifies and proposes a new sharing of public space for the benefit of pedestrians.

In France, the EIB has already supported numerous urban transport projects, including those in Bordeaux, Clermont Ferrand, Grenoble, Le Mans, Lyon, Montpellier, Mulhouse, Nancy, Nantes, Orlรฉans, Rennes, Strasbourg, Toulouse, and Valenciennes, with more than 3 billion euros over the decade.
