Occupational therapy is a health profession “that assesses and treats individuals through meaningful activities to preserve and develop their independence and autonomy in their daily and social environment” (definition by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists).
Through daily life activities (dressing, eating, housekeeping, shopping, playing), occupational therapy organizes a therapeutic framework aimed at remedying or improving organic or psychological deficiencies.
The Role of the Occupational Therapist
The occupational therapist provides care but also advice on technical aids and home modifications for people with disabilities.
The occupational therapist strives for the person to carry out their activities effectively and satisfyingly. The goal is to promote daily activity by compensating as much as possible for the disability or residual discomfort while especially ensuring to prevent falls among our seniors.

Open to everyone and free of charge, this awareness day is aimed at all those who wish to find answers and solutions to overcome daily obstacles, achieve greater independence in everyday activities, and live better at home.
Lectures at the House of Associations
On the theme of occupational therapy and aging well, a professional in occupational therapy from the ANFE will give two lectures on Friday, March 20, 2009, at the House of Associations, either at 6 PM or at 8 PM.
These lectures are open to all and free.
