From May 16 to 27, 2007, in Cannes, residents and all visitors will, as every year, enjoy the show offered by the world’s most famous film festival. Sequins, glitter, and stars will be present for the delight of the 100,000 visitors expected for this 60th Festival. But film enthusiasts need not worry, they will also have their place. Indeed, as every year since 2001, events open to the general public allow everyone to enjoy all facets of Cannes cinema. Because the seventh art is accessible to all, the city of Cannes continues to host events.
David Lisnard and Bernard Brochand, shine a spotlight on this festival like no other.
Cannes opens up to the general public, but elbowing in will be necessary!
In addition to the 1,500 seats offered by lottery and the screenings of the 2007 Palme d’Or, Cannes residents are not the only ones who can enjoy the events.
The general public can also access, by invitation (available at the Tourist Office), beach screenings of out-of-competition films. However, Macรฉ beach, the venue for this event, will also host a public film music concert on May 20th by Traffic Quintet and DJ Wax, who will reinterpret images and music from films awarded at Cannes.
Through the association “Cannes Cinema,” cinephiles can obtain 4,000 accreditations and attend film sessions, both in and out of competition, for free. They can also attend events such as “Un Certain Regard,” “Cannes Classics,” or enjoy the programming of ACID and Social Visions.
David Lisnard discussed it, and the Cannes market will also celebrate on May 25th when members of the official jury share a Provenรงal dish in Place de Castre.
But most accessible will certainly be the exhibition of Star photos by Denis ROUVRE. The photographs will be on display from May 16 to July 15, 2007, on Rue d’Antibes for aerial shots. The other more imposing shots will be displayed on city walls. The peculiar thing? The stars take the photos themselves. Thus, you can observe, the extraordinary portraits of Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Samuel Lee Jackson, Alain Delon, David Caradine, and many others.
For those nostalgic for “Nulle Part Ailleurs” on the Croisette, know that the “Evening Attire” show on May 19 at 8:50 PM will be hosted by Michel Drucker live from… Cannes.
