Latest News

Summer Exhibition at Espace A VENDRE, a drawing cabinet featuring nine illustrators and one photographer for the facade.

Karine Rougier, Claire Dantzer, Silvia B., Emmanuel Rรฉgent, Lionel Scoccimaro, and Stรฉphane Protic are artists whose drawings may seem academic at first glance but are counterbalanced by more unrestrained works from Arnaud Labelle-Rojoux, Thierry Lagalla, and Jรฉrรฉmie Grandsenne. Nicole Tran Ba Vang provides a photographic counterpoint on the facade of the gallery with a piece specifically designed for this space.

Silvia B.’s meticulously crafted and patiently realized sculptures are initially very appealing, luring the viewer to take a closer look. These figures are hybrid beings: a mix between man and beast, doll and robot, confusing gender and age.
In her most recent series of drawings, titled ‘les beaux’ (2005-2006), the ambiguity is less obvious. These portraits portray men who have adapted their looks, customized their appearances, or are decorated with makeup, tattoos, piercings, etc.
Silvia B.’s work challenges our narrow perceptions of beauty and normality.
By probing the outer extensions of these boundaries, she seeks something more complex that displays multiple facets.
