The Obama couple has just borrowed 47 works from the Washington Museum to decorate the walls of the White House to their taste.

Among these decidedly contemporary pieces is an impression of Nice by Nicolas de Staël, a major artist of the mid-20th century, who regularly stayed on the French Riviera.

Many connections are drawn between Nice and Washington. Indeed, last April, a tribute to Barack Obama was held through a photo exhibition by the Agence France Presse on the arrival of the President of the United States to power.
